Quilt Visions 2008
I am enthralled with the ethereal mood and tranquility,
color palette changes with seasons,  Solace is ubiquitous.

I often compose a large scene, creating it as a diptych,
for working ease; and loving the visual  statement. Equally wonderful
that both pieces can be exhibited separately.

Depicts 3 vignettes of this vast stone silhouette, most striking
as the last “up thrust” of the foothills of the front range of the
Rocky Mountains, near Loveland, CO. My geologist dad  fostered
my intrigue for these “hogbacks”.

Halfway through this quilt it dawned, I was
speaking for my sister and aunt, both
accommodating their lives in nursing
homes, same as this aspen tree
struggles in the waning forest,
in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Playing with a no-tan process of cutting positive shapes,
then taking “out”, to create the same negative imagery,
which is featured over my clamp shibori fabric

These “no-tan” trees are a stylized depiction of the forest’s various
seasons. I played with these trees---earlier auditioned for background
for the SURVIVOR quilt (pictured above)---where they seemed  frivolous.

An abstraction of color in the aspen forest...fun to add gold foil leaves, as “gold” is Colorado’s reference
to the aspen leaves, shimmering and twirling in the fall’s sunlight.

Lone skeletal trees appear as sentinels, witnessing longevity of time,
fun to create with my delicious screen printing “wabi sabi” (beauty in imperfection).
